The European Commission nominates SpeedScript® for the European Information Society Technologies Prize.

Summer 2005
SpeedScript® is “Editor’s Recommendation” in Pocket PC Magazine in Germany and receives two top “very good” ratings.

US trade magazine Pocket PC Magazine nominates SpeedScript® for its Best Software Award in the Soft Keyboards category.

SpeedScript® receives an award in the Digital Media category of the iF Communication Design Award 2005.

Spring 2005
SpeedScript® comes as standard on two Swisscom pocket PCs: the Qtek 9090 (available since February) and the S100 Swiss Edition (available since May).

In April 2005, SpeedScript® receives an award in the Interactive/Animated Category in New York-based I.D. Magazine’s 2005 Annual Design Review.

Spring 2004
SpeedScript receives a special award (sponsored by Swiss Re) at the 32nd International Fair for Inventions and New Technology in Geneva. Added to this, SpeedScript receives a gold medal on the special recommendation of the jury.
SpeedScript presents the beta version for tablet PCs at CeBIT 2004.

SpeedScript for Windows Mobile for Pocket PCs is made available for purchase on the SpeedScript website.

After a development phase, the SpeedScript concept emerges: keys for consonants, stylus strokes for vowels. Raphael Bachmann is amazed that it took him so long to come up with the idea, which for the first time makes it possible to streamline the system into its characteristic compact, simple form.

Summer 1996
A Newton PDA confronts Raphael Bachmann with the problem of text entry for touchscreen computers. He uses handwriting recognition and the touchscreen keyboard. Working with these two methods gives him the inspiration of combining very simple stylus strokes with key-tapping, with the aim of developing a better text entry method that makes optimum use of the touchscreen's potential.
